What are the best free website builders for my needs?

I am going to be traveling to Europe for a year and I need a (free) website builder.

Most of the stuff I’ll be putting on there is pictures (larger sizes, and I know I can shrink them, but I’d rather just have a quick/mass photo uploader on the site).

I also will be writing a journal-like series of entries, but don’t care too much about how much I can manipulate the text. Plain is fine.

I might want to upload some video, and though it will be much rarer than photos, I want to make sure that the website allows me enough space for a lot of photos and some video. (I like Windows Media, if that makes any difference.)

Above all, I just need a really quick-uploading and preferably high-capacity free website maybe in a journal style (like a blog).

I’ve used blogger and like it except that it is REALLY slow uploading photos (and I think my computer is generally really fast). Geocities is less of a blog format and so that’s not totally suited for my needs (unless I’m overlooking a feature).

Any suggestions? If possible, throw out a few details of the site(s) you recommend. Thanks!!!

Recommend you take a look at building a free website with Microsoft Office Live Small Business – . It has a free online web design tool that allows you to create web pages without coding, so you can edit your pages when you’re travelling. Currently, MS is offering a free domain name (i.e. yourtravelsite.com) for the first year. It comes with 500mb of storage (plenty of space for your photos) and has no ads. You can integrate it with Windows Live Spaces blog, but for a site like yours, you can create your own format instead of using a blog.
