How Do I host My Own Website at Home?

I have my own website up and running, but I want to host it myself.

How does one host their own website at their own home instead of having someone else host it for them?

What are the steps that I need to take?

Thank-you…It all seems very daunting at this point but I want to host it myself.
Thank-you.

    I wanted to do the same but was told by experts that I would need to pay (out the butt) for a static IP from my ISP. Most ISP don’t want you hosting a website on there lines.

    Things are different now – back in the day we all had dial-in websites with door games and files to d/l.

    if you are a beginner on this kind of stuff, then i had to say that it takes a lot of experience before you can successfully host your own web pages…but anyway
    you need to have the ff..

    * a 24/7 fast internet coonection to handle heavy traffic…
    * a static IP address..
    * a web server software..i recommend APACHE bec. it’s open-source
    and it’s free..
    * you have to have a secure environment..to handle attack like
    hackers..and others…
    * a stable and reliable Operating System..to handle heavy traffic
    which can cause your computer to crash…

    For most of us, it’s wiser and quicker to just go to a reliable hosting company and pick up a web hosting package because these companies take care of maintaining the server, the internet connection, server security and power backups…
    pls rate..

    Do you really intend to pass such an expensive and complicated process? You should know your site would be unavailable whenever your PC is turned off, and you’re leaving yourself open to attacks. So I recommend get a reliable company to do that in return for a few dollars.

    As an experienced webmaster I recommend BH web hosting which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.
