How do I make a game to put on my website?

I am making a website that is about a series of children’s books I am writing. The site contains information, but I want it to be appealing to kids. I figured putting a game or two on there would be a good way to do that. The problem is that I have no clue how to do this. I am making my website through Fatcow and don’t like any of the 5 games they have on there. So how do I make my own game to put on my website?

If you want to create a flash game, you have to have knowledge in flash and get a flash game maker. There are free flash game makers, but they aren’t as good as ones that cost a lot.

you want the games playable on your website, you need to learn Flash + Actionscript.

If you want people to be able to download and play your games, you can use almost any programming language (I recommend Python – pygame.org).

Either way, you need to learn how to program games, and that will take a while. Start small with extremely simple games like Pong and work your way up. Even childishly simple basic games are DIFFICULT to complete if you’ve never programmed before. If you try to make your dream game as your first project, you’ll be quickly overwhelmed and will never succeed.
