How much does it cost to make your own website? How do you make it? What program do you use?
Me and some friends want to make a website thats kind of like iCarly.com, we just pretty much want a site where we can blog about anything and post videos and pictures and pretty much just a cool fun site. We want to have our own domain, like www.(our website).com. We were wondering how can we get started on it, how can we make it, what programs can we use, and any other advice or information for starting your own website would be nice.

You get a subdomain (example.wordpress.com) but you can have example.com forward to that.

Hmm, the way you phrase it, the site you wish to create is complicated. The .com stuff will cost around from 1 dollar to 9 dollars or more it depends on the bandwith and the quality of the servers.
YOu could use an Adobe Program for creating it
I use geocities to design MY site. It’s a Yahoo service, and it’s really easy to use. It comes with a “blog generator” and everything. But if you want your own domain name it costs $8.95.
It will cost nothing if you dont want a domain (www.yoursite.com) and you can check their options and prices yourself. It has all the tools needed built into the system. Build a site and if you like it upgrade and buy the domain.

I’ve been making websites for a long time and THE best way to do it is get a domain through Yahoo. Your first year is $1.99. Then go to freewebs.com and get a website there. Sometimes they have specials where it’s only $15 a YEAR for a fabulous website with no ads. It’s super easy to use, you can sell things, post videos, pictures, a blog, you name it. I just started a new one up and chose to pay monthly which is only $4.95. (The didn’t have the $15 a year special last time I signed up, but did the time before that.) Really, this is the easiest way, especially if you don’t want to mess with HTML or have a newbie looking website. Once you select your site name and all that with freewebs what you’ll do is go to your Yahoo small business account (they’ll send an email to you with the info) and forward your domain name. It’s REALLY easy. If you decide to do this and need help, just let me know.

If you REALLY want to own your own website, you gotta find a website that sells domain names. But making a website from nothing but an owned domain name takes a LOT of hard coding and programming. You need to know html and javascript at least.

If you want to have a website like this… the name of the site is).webs.com, it doesnt cost any money but if you want to take they webs out, you have to pay a monthly charge that you can find out on freewebs.com. and its a safe website so no pop-ups. By the was I know I sound like Im advertising it, but Im really not trying to… Anyway, You can choose a theme for your website and there are a bunch you can choose from. Like a huge collection of them and if you like one but you want to change the color, they have every color there for you to pick. Also it will guide you throught the steps to make the website so you dont have to worry if you dont know how to make one or if you dont have any experience in the website-making buisiness (I dont know, but it makes sense). Create your account, then make your subdomain. Make the subdomain the same thing that you want your real domain to be.
Then Go to a website such as:

^Really Cheap. Don’t except anything they offer but the domain though. Then foward it to your Freewebs homepage.
On Freewebs, if you are really good at HTML and can build your pages from scratch using web layouts (Such as Quizilla Layouts, or HTML Web Templates), then don’t select a template from the list. Select the HTML option.
*BUT IF YOU AREN’T SURE.. I WOULD TRY USING A TEMPLATE FIRST*
Maybe make another account and try the HTML. Because you can choose a template and then downgrade to HTML, but you can’t go back up templates without deleting your account.
So only select that option if you’re good at HTML.. like if you’ve had a LOT of Myspace practice. lol.

In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some webhosting companies offer this as a gift . I am using bluehost webhosting for mine
