Looking for simple web page builder for photo listings?
I am looking for a web page builder to make an online catalog style searchable listing of photos with text next to each photo. (I am not selling anything, so I wouldn’t need a cart or anything) If possible, I would like to be able to browse my hard drive and choose photos to insert, as opposed to using code, since I’ve been trying to do this project from scratch and keep getting red ‘x’s where my photos are supposed to be. I would need unlimited pages, though. I’ve seen a few that only allow 4-5 pages, that won’t work for me. I know some html but am very much a novice.
If you just want to start out and get your feet wet, try Yahoo’s Geocities plan. It is cheap and their Sitebuilder is an easy leg up. If you are more brave, you can get a cheap site from somebody like godaddy (I like them because their Linux sites have all the features you will eventually want). They offer site building software (I have no experience with that). Nvu is a good freeware page creator, very WYSIWYG. Firefox is not only an excellent browser, but also comes with a very excellent FTP client. Have fun.
