How do I build a website to show my photography>?
Hy all, I’m a photographer (16) and would like to build a website to show some of my work where it can be looked at and critiqued, or whatever people would like to say about it. I would rather not spend money on this so is there a website already made for this purpose that I don’t know about, where maybe I could create a profile? (I already know about flickr, but I don’t like it) Thank you for any advice you can offer me!
no one can teach you to build a website on yahoo answers, and it will not be free.

It’s fun and easy to use, free to sign up, great for friends and feedback.
you could start by looking at HTML. It’s a mark-up language. I used to have my own website over it but I can’t remember the URL. I put a link to a website that explains the basics of HTML .
It’s full of ads, sorry about that.

Deviant Art is prolly your best bet.
You could also use redbubble. You can make a mini site on there to show off your work and allow people to buy them in all different styles from cards to canvas prints. You can also join groups etc… just like flickr.
It’s quite an undertaking but worth the time and effort. As an artist, it’s important to have the same creative control over how your work is presented. DeviantArt is great, I use it myself but if you intended to professionally pursue photography, you’ll need a website to showcase your work. DeviantArt is a good way to filter traffic to a website.

If you want to learn how to code, you should look up html and css tutorials, use youtube because it’s so much easier to see exactly how it’s done rather than just reading. I don’t know how much you want to learn but after learning the basic coding for a site, ligthbox is a great free tool to view photos on your site.
I’m a self taught web designer and it took about 2 years before I got good at it but again worth the time and effort not to mention adds a new skill to your resume.
